This week marks five years since cannabis was legalized in Canada, and Jennawae Cavion, Co-Owner at Calyx and Trichomes, said it’s been quite an experience. One topic that sticks out when it comes to the sale of legalized cannabis is the over-saturation of the market.

Ontario also unveiled the next phase of cannabis retail operations, opening up the market even more. The cap of 25 brick and mortar stores in Ontario will be raised.

"For it to pass unanimously is the best way this night could have ended," McLean said, nearly breaking out into tears of joy after council voted.

Owner of head shop 420 Kingston Jennawae McLean is hopeful her application will be chosen, since she's been renovating a large cannabis retail space for several months she's named Calyx and Trichomes.

The legalization of cannabis in Canada is months away, but after Oct. 17, any admittance to smoking or even working in the marijuana industry to a border patrol officer can get you banned from entering the United States.

"The Liberals have lied to us. This is not legalization, this is decriminalization to a point and criminalization after that," McLean said.

“If (the Conservatives) were smart, they would take it up as an issue,” McLean said. “It’s hilarious that they want to say they are fiscally conservative but still spend as much money as they do on jailing innocent pot users, non-violent drug offenders.”
