In Canada, organic cannabis refers to cannabis that has been cultivated using organic practices but is not certified under the Canada Organic Regime (COR) overseen by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) as it falls outside of their scope. The COR regulates organic certification for agricultural products such as fruits, vegetables, and grains, but excludes cannabis plants and their cultivation, as well as cosmetics, pet food, and natural health products. Therefore, cannabis products cannot bear the Canada Organic Logo even if they are grown organically. Producers may still claim their cannabis is organic based on their adherence to organic principles such as using natural fertilizers, avoiding synthetic pesticides, and promoting soil health and sustainability. However, consumers should verify claims through independent certifications or assurances from producers regarding their organic practices. Products in this category are sold to us as organic.
