Week 9: Whoopsies!

Week 9: Whoopsies!

Posted by Jennawae McLean on 2020 Jan 31st

Strains in the tents:  White Widow, Spanish Mango, Juice Box, Ayahuasca Purple.

Grow method:  Indoor SCROG (although the screen is not on yet) with LED.

LED Details:  2x California Lightworks 1100 + 2x California Lightworks 550, on our VEG 3 setting of 90: Red, 99 White, 90 Blue for 18 hours.

Gear I am using:  Pure Tents, California Lightworks 1100s and 550s LEDs and controller, Pure Pots (20 gallon), Promix HP, solo cups in various sizes, Lock Down Pads, Greenhouse Powder Feed.

Whoopsies, I was a little late taking pics this week, but you will notice a big difference on all fronts!  I have been watering and feeding extra heavy and am hoping the red increase helps with stretching which will help fill up the tents.

Strain name:  Spanish Mango
Genetics:  An early phenotype of Soma's Somango bred out by a friend in the North of Spain.
Flowering time:  8-9 weeks
Yield:  Average
Level of difficulty: Medium
Notes:  The leaves on this one are really blocking light and impeding stretchy growth--it's growing like its bubbling under the surface (and really not filling up the tent as much as I would like at this point).  Otherwise very healthy and doing great, but am a little concerned some of the faster finishing strains will fill the tents quicker and I won't get the yield I want from this one.  Plus this one is in a slightly larger tent than the others (as is the WW).  The smell is really hashy.

Strain name:  White Widow
Genetics:  Brazilian X South Indian
Flowering time:  8-9 weeks
Yield:  Heavy
Level of difficulty:  Easy
Notes: Like the Spanish Mango, I am seeing a huge amount of growth under but not a lot of stretching.  Also like the Spanish Mango I'm concerned about the tent not filling up as quickly, especially in one of the larger tents.  For how weird this one started the smell is my favourite--like a skunk someone set on fire?  In a good way?

Strain name:  Ayahuasca Purple
Genetics:  Red River Delta X Masterkush
Flowering time:  9 weeks
Yield:  Heavy
Level of difficulty:  Easy
Notes: This one started as the fastest growing but now we are seeing that it is  matching the speed of the Spanish Mango (maybe because of all the bandaids I had to put in last week).  Good news is that even with all the repairs everything is looking lush and healthy (just not stretching as quickly as I would like).

Strain name:  Juice Box
Genetics:  (Cannalope Haze X Juanita La Lagrimosa) X Jack The Ripper
Flowering time:  10 weeks
Yield:  Average - Heavy
Level of difficulty:  Medium
Notes: My favourite girl!  She is really setting the pace for the other 3 and filling up the tent really quickly.  It might be ready to flower in a week (but because the other 3 are 2-3 weeks away we won't).  With extra vegging time and nowhere to stretch horizontally, they will begin to stretch vertically--and we will end up with long skinny buds.  I don't really want that (I like chonkers) so I may have to clip some of these back a bit.
