Week 3: Yikes! I overwatered those buggers!

Strains in the tents:  White Widow, Spanish Mango, Juice Box, Ayahuasca Purple

Grow method:  Indoor SCROG (although the screen is not on yet) with LED

LED Details:  2x California Lightworks 1100 + 2x California Lightworks 550, on our SEEDLING setting of 50: Red, 79 White, 99 Blue for 24 hours.

Gear we are using:  Pure Tents, California Lightworks 1100s and 550s LEDs and controller, Pure Pots (20 gallon), Promix HP, solo cups in various sizes.

I always friggin do this.  The very first stage is like I would say not super thrilled with my progress this week.  I shake my fist at the solo cup method.  I think the cups are the main issue--there is no drainage and these little seedlings are starting to develop yellow cotylydons (yellowing at this stage is a warning of the beginning of overwatering).  A few died (which is fine--I germinated extra).  My problem is getting used to the dehumidifier.  A couple seedlings got too dry and when I watered I overdid it (because nothing was draining out of the bottom).  I just need to get used to it.  I transplanted any of the seeds that were leading the others in growth directly into the pot so I won't have the same drainage issues.  I MAY have an overpotting issue, but there isn't much I can do at this point--just learn to poke holes in the bottom next time!  I also did an application of the Organic Reactor, which always helps nurse my plants along.

I wish I had pictures of mine to share, but for some reason I forgot to take the pictures!  Here is a google image I found of what an overwatered seedling looks like (with insanely overwatered soil,  I didn't water mine THIS much, but my solo cups didn't drain).  Anyways the seedling looks the same as mine so here:

Strain name:  Spanish Mango
Genetics:  Soma's Somango bred out by a friend in the North of Spain.
Flowering time:  8-9 weeks
Yield:  Average
Level of difficulty: Medium
Notes:  Talk about natural selection!  One of my Spanish Mango seedlings was underwatered and died overnight.  Whomp whomp.  I still have the other one left.  It is starting to look a little yellow so I am transplanting into the main pot to avoid overwatering (which is more imminent than overpotting at this point).

Strain name:  White Widow
Genetics:  Brazilian X South Indian
Flowering time:  8-9 weeks
Yield:  Heavy
Level of difficulty:  Easy
Notes: These were originally among the most vigorous, but alas, they have also been overwatered so their growth has slowed down this week.  It's annoying.  I took the best looking one and planted it hoping it would dry out.

Strain name:  Ayahuasca Purple
Genetics:  Red River Delta X Masterkush
Flowering time:  9 weeks
Yield:  Heavy
Level of difficulty:  Easy
Notes:  The first to sprout is still going strong but the other two died!  I am nursing this last one along.  If I can get another set of leaves out, even if they are small I know I am on the right track.

Strain name:  Juice Box
Genetics:  (Cannalope Haze X Juanita La Lagrimosa) X Jack The Ripper
Flowering time:  10 weeks
Yield:  Average - Heavy
Level of difficulty:  Medium
Notes:  This strain I am most excited to grow out.  Both seedlings are looking OKAY (but still have yellow cotylydons).  I am nursing both along but planted the one I feel best about.  We'll see what next week brings but hopefully I can get them out of this stage!
