Week 2: Transplanted to bigger cups!

Week 2: Transplanted to bigger cups!

Posted by Jennawae McLean on 2019 Dec 13th

Strains in the tents:  White Widow, Spanish Mango, Juice Box, Ayahuasca Purple

Grow method:  Indoor SCROG (although the screen is not on yet) with LED

LED Details:  2x California Lightworks 1100 + 2x California Lightworks 550, on our SEEDLING setting of 50: Red, 79 White, 99 Blue for 24 hours.

Gear we are using:  Pure Tents, California Lightworks 1100s and 550s LEDs and controller, Pure Pots (20 gallon), Promix HP, dehumidifier, solo cups in various sizes.

A relatively event-free week.  All seeds are sprouted and doing okay.  At this point life is very fragile and it is very easy to overwater and kill some of the seedlings.  Sometimes even ProMix is too strong for them.  I am a little concerned I didn't think to poke a hole in the bottom for drainage--but I'm keeping them in my dry grow room (with the dehumidifier on).  I transferred all the little 1 oz. shots of seeds to a larger solo cup so the roots have a chance to grow to the size of their container.  I finally got my previous harvest done, and the room cleaned up and ready for the new grow, so I transferred the seedlings into the tents with the 20 gal. pots they will eventually grow in.  These pots are HUGE and take up most of the space in the tent.  I am hoping I can scrog in 10 weeks of veg, but we will see.

Again, not much to take a pic of this week, but here are the little seedlings before they were transferred over!

Strain name:  Spanish Mango
Genetics:  Soma's Somango bred out by a friend in the North of Spain
Flowering time:  8-9 weeks
Yield:  Average
Level of difficulty: Medium
Notes:  This is a strain that is making selection easy, because one of the seeds is thriving and the other is looking pretty limp.  I guess this is truly natural selection.  I hope the second one stays in good shape because I don't want to have to re-sprout any of these!

Strain name:  White Widow
Genetics:  Brazilian X South Indian
Flowering time:  8-9 weeks
Yield:  Heavy
Level of difficulty:  Easy
Notes: 2/3 are stretching so much I had to stake one of them.  They are even developing their first sets of leaves (so we know we are going to have success).  One of them is looking a little limp though, so I am sure natural selection will get it for sure.

Strain name:  Ayahuasca Purple
Genetics:  Red River Delta X Masterkush
Flowering time:  9 weeks
Yield:  Heavy
Level of difficulty:  Easy
Notes:  2/3 are looking okay right now.  I only need one to take off and really root itself, but this was the most vigorous and the first of the 4 strains to germinate and pop out of soil.  I am amped to get this one going!

Strain name:  Juice Box
Genetics:  (Cannalope Haze X Juanita La Lagrimosa) X Jack The Ripper
Flowering time:  10 weeks
Yield:  Average - Heavy
Level of difficulty:  Medium
Notes: Both Juice Box are looking great.  No issues.  My only issue is the inevitable heartbreak I will feel when I ultimately have to kill one of them.  4 plants TOTAL this grow, so we will see how we do!
