Week 19: Flushing and getting ready to harvest!
Strains in the tents:  Russian Doll, Sour Key OG, and Pineapple Express (scroll down for details by strain).

Grow method:  Indoor SCROG with LED.

LED Details:  2x California Lightworks 1100 + 2x California Lightworks 550 on our FLOWER 2 setting of 75: Red, 99 White, 99 Blue for 12 hours.

Gear we are using:  Pure Tents, California Lightworks 1100s and 550s LEDs and controller, Pure Pots (10 gallon), Promix HP, Dollar Store EZ Pods, Green House Powder Feed, BlueSky Organics Organic Reactor, Safer's End All miticide concentrate (plus water and a spray bottle), microscope, Secret Jardin Oscillating Fan, dehumidifier

We are finally approaching the end of flower!   We have entered the FLOWER 2 setting on our cycle which is a strong reduction of red and an increase of blue (which at this stage will help increase terpene production).  At this point I am still all clear for bud rot and mould, and my buds are dense and rock hard.  I would have started noticing issues last week or even the week before--but nothing yet, and that makes me VERY happy.  The dehumidifier is being emptied a couple times daily and it seems to be doing a good job.  To be safe I am still watering less but more often (every other day).  Before watering I double check how heavy the pot is--if it needs water it will be noticeably light and if it doesn't need water it will be noticeably difficult to lift.  Gauge for yourself the next time you're watering--before you water see how light it is and after watering see the difference.

Everything is flushing now (meaning I am no longer giving it any food, just water).  I am also feeding everything cold water--just for fun.  It makes the leaves look like fall---reds and purples.  All phenos may not express cold water the same way and the buds themselves are not affected--its just for fun colourplay with leaves.  I'm an October baby so I guess I have an affinity for the autumnal leaf change?  At this point in flowering it is also normal to see leaves not just changing to pretty colours, but also just dying off or going a little yellow.  The plants are using all their effort and energy at this point to produce the flowers--including using up the carbohydrate reserves in the leaves themselves.  If you were an advanced grower this would be the point you would add an additional carbohydrate boost to make it a trichome sugar bomb.  I have used the Organic Booster from BlueSky Organics before with mixed results.  I much prefer giving it a boost by increasing the Blue spectrum or adding a UVB light (also available from CLW) at this point.  Just less of a hassle.

Finished-ness is a personal thing you have to gauge for yourself.  Judging by just hairs or firmness or leaf colour is a good hint but not the whole picture.  Using a 60x microscope look at the trichomes.  I usually want 80% milky trichomes, 10-15% amber and 5-10% clear.  You must have SOME amber trichomes, but be warned, amber trichomes are like a banana with a couple brown spots--its super sweet, but will be too sweet in a day or two.  Amber trichomes will change the effect of the cannabis and make it more couch-locky.  I made up lots of words in todays blog.  You're welcome.

Strain name:  Sour Key OG
Genetics:  Amnesia Haze X (Super Lemon Haze X OG Kush)
Flowering time:  8 weeks
Yield:  Heavy
Level of difficulty:  Medium
Notes:  I am finally seeing the buds on the left in tent 1 firm up.  It will still be the last to harvest overall (maybe a few days longer than the rest) but it will be done soon still.  The buds are winding up the stretched stalk like a spiral staircase (which is because this pheno stretched out so much).  They still smell super hazey.  The shorter buds next to them in tent one look close to finish and smell SUPER sweet and tangy!  Like all the other strains, I have been feeding these with cold water.  If you check out tent 2, all the buds are the same but one of the plants REALLY took to the cold water and went purple!  Actually, of all the Sour Key OG's the purple one looks like the first that will be harvested (second plant harvested overall)--super chonky hard buds.

Strain name:  Pineapple Express
Genetics:  Big Bud X Hawaiian Skunk
Flowering time:  8 weeks
Yield:  Heavy
Level of difficulty:  Medium
Notes:  FINALLY starting to see some chonkiness in the finishing stages of my Pineapple Express.  I am also noticing more amber trichomes on these than any of the others--so it is ready to come down as well.  There is a lot of leaves so trimming will be a pain overall (although less of a pain had I let this grow outside for example).  I could see why someone would want to do a whole plant extract with something like this.
Strain name:  Russian Doll
Genetics:  Kuban Sativa x Northern Lights x AK-47
Flowering time:  8-9 weeks
Yield:  Medium
Level of difficulty:  Easy
Notes:  My best strain, I am ready to harvest the Russian Doll in the next couple days.  Most of the buds are about a foot big, just huge and hard.  I can't wait to trim this one.  I am so excited!  I will probably do a trim video to show you how I do it too!
